OUTSOURCING YOUR RECRUITMENT NEEDS

Many organizations are turning to outsourcing their recruitment needs. They are finding this is a cost-effective, timely and professional approach to go about hiring the "right staff" for their organization. Often the company's management staff is too focused on the other needs of the business to devote the time necessary to make the critical hiring decision.

The HR/IR Satellite proven approach to directing the recruitment process for an organization typically employs the following steps:

1. Background - we ensure we have a clear understanding of the requirements for the position. A job description will be prepared or where one currently exists it will be updated. The key competencies for the position will be identified at this stage. A brief consultation will be required with the "hiring manager". Salary range and other benefits are agreed to at this time. (Up to one day for Step 1 & 2)

2. Advertising - a recruitment advertisement will be prepared and placed in the appropriate newspaper or journal. This may done using the client's name or a blind box or our name.

Companies approve the advertising budget and will be billed the actual cost of placing the advertisement - no markup on the cost.

3. Screening - all resumes will be thoroughly screened. A "long list" will be selected for telephone interview. A "short list" will be called in for a personal interview. Interviews are conducted using a "behavioural approach" - generally found to be the most effective manner in assessing the competencies identified earlier in the process.

As part of our process and the information which the company will receive, the final list of candidates will also complete a psychometric instrument called Selectbest , at which time they will be assessed against a behavioural template completed with the assistance of the hiring manager.

(Up to three days)

4. Candidate presentation - three to five candidates are normally presented at this time for meetings with the client. We will make the arrangements and setup the interviews with the interviewing managers. Some clients also request our assistance to help their managers conduct this level of interviews. (Up to one day for Steps 4, 5 & 6)

5. Reference checks - will be conducted on the final candidate(s).

6. Offer stage - we can often play a useful role as a third party in helping present or negotiate the final offer.

If this approach does not produce an acceptable candidate, we will review the process with you and recommend next steps. At no time are you encouraged to accept a candidate that does not meet your requirements.

This total approach typically takes up to five days of consultant's time.

The benefits to organizations are we operate at all times as though the HR/IR Satellite is the company's Recruiter. The organization therefore saves valuable management time; all resumes submitted remain their property (an additional fee will be assessed, if hiring more than one candidate); the fees do not change for recruiting higher level positions and the process is handled professionally at all stages.
